A Crowning Achievement

The owner of this extraordinary home with a stunning view frankly admits he "wouldn't move unless carried out!"
John designed his dream house to replace a run-down building and it was completed just in time for his 60th birthday party. He is so pleased with the result that he still compliments everyone on the design and construction team.
It comprises two large pavilions, one behind the other, joined by a courtyard. The front one incorporates the large open-plan living and dining area with the master bedroom and ensuite upstairs – all enjoying spectacular harbour views. The second has a full bedroom suite with dressing room and bathroom, as well as a living room and study on the ground floor, with two more guestrooms and another bathroom on the upper level. The kitchen with a TV area adjacent is situated between the pavilions and an upper corridor links the two. At ground level, a courtyard – complete with a water feature – is also common to both sections, and an awning extends to allow for entertaining in all weather.
Credit for much of the interior design goes to Bronwyn Poole of Touch Interiors and John considers himself "very fortunate" to have enjoyed her insight and vision on the project. The place is open, light and airy yet still has a warm, earthy feel due in no small part to the subtle colour-play and textural highlighting.
The entrance is dramatic with a gigantic timber door to welcome visitors while the garage, wine cellar and plant room are all underground. Additional terraces for outdoor get-togethers and access to substantial storage under the stairs complete the picture of a home that's "very easy to live in and maintain".
