Southern Comfort

The owners of this delightful home are keeping the tradition of the sun-loving lifestyle very much alive!
Sue and James love life in their bayside suburb south of Sydney and were lucky enough to find their new home just a few streets from where they lived. “Its tranquil feel attracted us,” says Sue. “It’s right on the sand, and the water lapping the boundary is so relaxing.”
The three-bedroom, two-storey dwelling follows an architectural style that‘s popular in America, with a number of columns both inside and out, giving a classic touch. They simply revamped the bathrooms and redecorated, which included painting the interior white. And, luckily, the furnishings they’d brought with them fitted beautifully!
The kitchen is the centre of the large open-plan living area on the lower level, which is divided by strategically placed furniture. The family spend wintry evenings in front of the fire in the formal living room, but just through the large sliding glass doors there’s a well-used timber setting shaded by palm trees. “The pool is one level down – and then you’re on the beach!” Sue explains.
As the living areas are all in view, continuity was the key to the decor, and the same fabric is used on the many cushions in the TV room and formal lounge, as well as on the chairs in the kitchen and the dining area.
Upstairs, the master ‘salon’ is resplendent in taupe, black, grey and white.
Good fortune certainly seems to have come the way of this lucky family. Page printed from Home Ideas online:
